Gay Games 2006 / Chicaco

Singer Cyndi Lauper wrapped up the Gay Games VIII with her performance at the closing ceremony, belting out her hits "True Colors" and "Shine" to standing ovations. She dressed as the Statue of Liberty wrapped in the rainbow flag and carrying a torch. She ended the set by telling the crowd to 'stand proud and together pass the flame on'.

The Chicaco Games kicked off Saturday night before an enthusiastic crowd at Chicago's Soldier Field estimated at 30,000 fans and 12,000 athletes. It was claimed that the game was rather flat as the lack of non-American participation, compared to past games. This is all due to the split between the Gay Games and the rival OutGames, which will be held in Montreal in two weeks. More photos at Outsports.
