Miss Japan Riyo Mori, a 20 y/o professional ballet dancer, won the Miss Universe crown at the 56th annual event held at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, co-hosted by Vanessa Minnillo and Mario Lopez .
The 1st runner-up was Brazil's Natalia Guimaraes, 2nd runner-up was Venezuela's Ly Jonaitis, 3rd runner-up was Korea's Honey Lee and the 4th Runner-up was USA's Rachel Smith. (left to right)
The glamour of the event came to a halt when the audience at the auditorium started booing Miss USA (Rachel Smith), a complete embarrassment for the host country. In addition, Miss USA fell during the evening gown competition. With all that, Miss USA remained calm and reached the top 5. Philippines took the Miss Photogenic Award for the 3rd consecutive year, while Miss China took the Miss Congeniality prize. [Source]
This year Asian ladies have dominated and wiped out the top titles. Japan won its second Miss Universe title, 48 years after it's first victory. Congratulations to the beautiful new Miss Universe!
