Sexy bronzed bodies, crashing waves, surfers, Bondi Beach - on first acquaintance you might think "Bondi Rescue" has all it needs to be a TV hit. It follows the work of hunky lifeguards in charge of safety at the world busiest and Sydney's favourite beach, Bondi. A bit of action for the boys, a bit of eye candy and budgie smugglers on the pristine sand of Sydney's most famous beach.

A surprise hit of last summer, the show also documents the lives and personalities of the Bondi lifeguards. Bondi Rescue was a ratings winner for channel Ten with about 1.2 million viewers an episode. The second series will go to air in prime time later this month.

Bondi Rescue will soon screen on Britain's second-biggest pay TV multi-channel broadcaster, UKTV. The makers are negotiating to sell the first series to Japan, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Italy. There is also strong interest from Finland, France and Ecuador.
